Jabra has recently launched the new Speak 710 mobile speakerphone, the newest entry in its successful Speak Series.
While the Speak Series have been popular for its conferencing capabilities, Jabra has listened to customer feedback and have updated the Speak 710 with new features. Firstly, the Speak 710 is not just aimed at conference calls solely, but it is also a formidable music speaker as well, despite its small size. Boasting HiFi grade audio quality in its specifications, I was genuinely surprised at the audio fidelity from the speaker. What is even more jaw dropping is the fact that in a room, which was able to fit 15+ people very comfortably, the Speak 710 was able to be heard -very clearly I might add- throughout the entire room. I definitely can see this being an asset for businesses which hold many conference calls. The Speak 710 is also equipped with an omnidirectional microphone for 360 degree audio pick-up, another function that is useful for conference calls. We tried the sample unit during the media launch, and I was able to hear my colleagues who were testing the speaker on my phone very clearly. In fact, they were having trouble hearing me in their noisy environment as compared to my quiet surroundings, due to my phone’s microphone being not as good. The Speak 710 is also a portable device, weighing at 298 grams, and roughly the size of my palm. Battery life is touted at 15 hours, but we will test that fact out when we get the review unit. Recharge time is also stated to be 3 hours to full charge. It also has many connectivity solutions, being certified for Avaya, Cisco and Skype for Business and more. But more importantly, together with a wired USB solution, it has 2 wireless connection methods as well. For the first method, it has a wireless USB dock that can be plugged into computers, and it is immediately connected. The second method is Bluetooth, which means that phones and tablets can be connected to the device as well. There is even a Smart button which can activate your phone’s virtual assistant, eg. Cortana, Siri, Google Assistant. After listening to many customers asking for a 2-speaker setup, Jabra has included a wireless linking option, to allow for another Speak 710 unit to be connected to allow for either stereo sound or to accommodate larger conference rooms. The Speak 710 looks to be a promising addition to the business market, being small and portable, yet packing lots of power behind its diminutive exterior. Although the Speak 710 looks to be a very good addition as a business tool, its price point might be a little high for the average user, coming in at SGD $525. However, if you do have the extra moolah to throw around, this is a good speaker worth its price point. For even more information on the Jabra Speak 710, look below for the press release.
