The HP Sprocket is a portable printer that was launched in the US last September, and it has finally come to Singapore shores!
The small and portable printer is a must have accessory for those who love taking polaroid pictures, with the handy function to print photos DIRECTLY from your mobile phone on the fly!
Coming in 2 chic colours (black and white), with a new red slated for release soon, the HP Sprocket is not only a device with a trendy function, it looks trendy as well.
The Sprocket connects to mobile phones via both Bluetooth and NFC, with the iOS version requiring HP’s Sprocket companion app to be able to print photos, and Android users being able to print without the app. The app however, is actually a huge plus point, coming with many nifty features that allows users to edit their photos with numerous filters and stickers, giving photobooths a run for their money.
One really interesting thing to note is that the Sprocket does not need ink- the pictures come from the special Zero Ink paper HP incorporates into the Sprocket, the Zink Photo Paper, a special thermal paper developed by Zink Imaging. The Zink paper consists of several heat sensitive layers with the CMY colours, and the image is achieved by the heat treatment. What HP claims that sets them apart from their competitors is the addition of a special calibration paper, that ensures that the print quality will be good with every new Zink Paper pack you open and load onto the Sprocket.
The HP Sprocket is retailing in stores at $199, with a special promotion of 2 sets of Zink cartridges(worth $31.80) if you buy the Sprocket now.
