Now, anyone can be an online superstar – and get paid. Whether you are a dancer, singer, magician, comedian, make-up maestro or just a master of chit-chat, there is a new homegrown live streaming mobile app that lets anyone start their individual channel to build their personal fandom.
The virtual busking platform lets streamers receive virtual gifts like flowers, teddy bears and even mansions from their fans in real time. These virtual kudos are purchased with real moolah and the streamer gets a substantial cut of the revenue when they receive these digital items.
BeLive has been available in beta on both iOS and Google Play since February this year (2017). In the short span of two months it has attracted over 1,000 unique streamers, with about 300 of them actively streaming at least once a week. Top streamers can earn about $400 to $500 for a 30-minute stream. Kenneth Tan, chief executive officer of BeLive said: “Live streaming is the new social. In China, Japan and Korea, this virtual-busking style of live streaming is the rage right now but it is still nascent in South-east Asia. We believe that this is next frontier of personal entertainment and want to put Singapore as a forerunner in what may well be the next big thing in social media and the Internet.” For more of the latest in tech news in Singapore, don't forget to like and follow our Facebook Page! |
